Cafemom's question of the day:
What movie would your friends be surprised to find out you haven't seen?
Here's what I wrote:
My husband and I love movies.
Before we had Veronica and Paige, we realized sometimes we were seeing movies three times a week: Thursday nights at midnight (if we were very excited to see the new movie), Friday nights and Saturdays. It got to the point we didn't even know what was playing, we saw movies we hadn't heard of.
When we scheduled Veronica's induction date (which, 18 hours later, turned into a c-section), we were relieved because the first Spider Man was to be released four days earlier. After the movie, we walked across the street for some Maggie Moos ice cream. That turned into a tradition, because right before we had Paige, we went to a movie and Maggie Moos. I guess if we have another, we'll have to find another Maggie Moos (or switch to Cold Stone).
There weren't very many theater visits between Spider Man and whatever the movie was before Paige was born. The girls were time consuming (imagine that).
Harkins Theatres opened new theatres w/ child care available. Since Paige has turned three and potty trained (she's five now), we were so excited to enroll them in the child care. Now, for the price of less than a child's ticket, we can watch our movies again.
Plus, during the summers, we see the $2.00 kid movies every week! they're like monkeys! Popcorn flies, kids are screaming and crying, and at the end of the movie, they are dancing in front of the screen. It's fun fun I tell ya.
The movie my friends will be surprised to hear I have not seen, is anything from the 80s. From 1980 to 1985, I lived on Wrangell AK. There was no movie theatre on the island. We took the ferry three days to Seattle to see E.T. We didn't have a tv. We drove six miles into town once a week to see Fraggle Rock.
Let's just say, the rest of the 80s didn't include movies either.
So, w/ netflix and the theatre down the street, w/ childcare, I am making up for lost time.

www.cafemom.com asked (I'll paraphrase) if you could take a cruise, what river would it be on.
Here is my answer:
If I were to take a cruise, it wouldn't be on a river.
I grew up in Alaska and in the summers we sold garnets to the people who deboarded the cruises every day and every week.
"The famous Garnet Ledge is located at the mouth of the Stikine River. Wrangell Garnet Sellers are renowned world wide. Orders come in from all over the world to fulfill special requests seeking local garnets. And who are these Garnet sellers? The Children of Wrangell, naturally!"
http://www.wrangell.com/visitors/attractions/sightseeing/garnet/
The cruises came from "the lower 48", which is what we called "the states", and from Japan. The Japanese brought us apple/pears in cans and other food we'd never seen before.
..But I digress..
I lived in AK for 6 or 7 years and I cannot even describe what it is like to someone who has lived in the southwest his/her whole life. Who, do you ask, has lived in the southwest their whole life? My husband and children. I want to take them on a cruise to AK and show them planes that land on the water, glaciers before they are gone, rocky beaches, bears, and fish 4 feet long.

We have been busy!
Veronica and Paige completed their ballet recital.
They've been taking piano lessons.
They joined girl scouts.
Paige graduated from Kindergarten.
Veronica turned 7 w/ a bang.
Matthew flew all over Texas and now he's in Canada (yet again, I made too much coffee).
Matthew took me to see NIN/JA (nine inch nails/janes addiction) for my birthday.
They are out of school for the summer.
In June I'm taking the girls to abq for Religious Education summer school, swimming lessons and to get their ears pierced (again). We'll be gone for three weeks.

Veronica and Paige are performing their dance recital, saturday, May 16th.
Many of our friends and family have expressed interest to see the girls dance.
They've practiced all year and this is their fourth year taking dance.
If you have the opportunity to attend, tickets are $7.00 at:
http://qcpac.ticketforce.com/eventperformances.asp?evt=576&c=41&pg=
Veronica and Paige are performing during the 3:00 pm performance!
Let us know when you buy tickets.
Believe me, you are under no pressure to go. This is for the people in our lives who find joy sitting through an hour of watching other people's children perform.
