Cafemom's question of the day:
What movie would your friends be surprised to find out you haven't seen?
Here's what I wrote:
My husband and I love movies.
Before we had Veronica and Paige, we realized sometimes we were seeing movies three times a week: Thursday nights at midnight (if we were very excited to see the new movie), Friday nights and Saturdays. It got to the point we didn't even know what was playing, we saw movies we hadn't heard of.
When we scheduled Veronica's induction date (which, 18 hours later, turned into a c-section), we were relieved because the first Spider Man was to be released four days earlier. After the movie, we walked across the street for some Maggie Moos ice cream. That turned into a tradition, because right before we had Paige, we went to a movie and Maggie Moos. I guess if we have another, we'll have to find another Maggie Moos (or switch to Cold Stone).
There weren't very many theater visits between Spider Man and whatever the movie was before Paige was born. The girls were time consuming (imagine that).
Harkins Theatres opened new theatres w/ child care available. Since Paige has turned three and potty trained (she's five now), we were so excited to enroll them in the child care. Now, for the price of less than a child's ticket, we can watch our movies again.
Plus, during the summers, we see the $2.00 kid movies every week! they're like monkeys! Popcorn flies, kids are screaming and crying, and at the end of the movie, they are dancing in front of the screen. It's fun fun I tell ya.
The movie my friends will be surprised to hear I have not seen, is anything from the 80s. From 1980 to 1985, I lived on Wrangell AK. There was no movie theatre on the island. We took the ferry three days to Seattle to see E.T. We didn't have a tv. We drove six miles into town once a week to see Fraggle Rock.
Let's just say, the rest of the 80s didn't include movies either.
So, w/ netflix and the theatre down the street, w/ childcare, I am making up for lost time.
